Photographer Oleg Borisuk about art ,life and vision !
" I love creating new things and showing the world the way I see it !"
Oleg Borisuk was born in the Ukraine , living in Budapest.
In the early years of his career Oleg began pushing the boundaries between reality and fantasy in an abstract game which combined sophistication with intuition and at the same time gave an instinctive and experimental character to his work.
Oleg works with intensive colours and unique shapes and at the same time he has a simplicity and clarity characterised by imagination and professionalism.
Oleg’s work breaks down the barriers between reality and the dream world, between art photography and advertising/fashion photography.

WHEN OR HOW DID YOU DISCOVERED YOU WANT TO BE A PHOTOGRAPHER ?

It started out as a childhood hobby and I've been creating short films and taking pictures since I was 10.
Becoming a photographer, that was the work of faith. When I went to apply to university, there was a mile long queue to the fashion designer sector, so I decided to change last minute and applied to be a fashion photographer. In a way that is why I find styling so important as fashion design has been the focal point of my passion.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE ?

I don't like to label things so I wouldn't want to label my style. I believe in fluidity with my work, I am looking for emotions and sensations in my photographs. It is more important to me that the end result will make the observer feel in a certain way.

WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO ?

I love watching movies and I have always been inspired by the performance of the actors and the world created by great directors like Lars von Trier, Christopher Nolan, and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST DREAMS ?

I don't have a big dream set in stone, I like to be present and I am enjoying my journey where I am today. I love creating new things and showing the world the way I see it. If I have to say my dream is to be able to continue experimenting and discovering new ways of creating art. I count myself lucky to do something I love.

We all fear for our loved ones and my family is an important part of my life. In general, I am not one to step out of my comfort zone, the unknown challenges me.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT / MOST PROUD MOMENT ?

I'm proud that I stepped out and moved to a country where I didn't know anyone but one person, and eventhough I didnt speak the language, I challenged myself to learn it.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY REGARDS STYLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY ?

I think our industry is changing rapidly. All because of social media. We all have the power to share photographs on platforms like Instagram. Throughout the years the quality of the pictures were the main focus but now there is more space for everyone to share who they are, what they are doing and share their feelings and everyday life. There is more freedom in creating and more acceptance of different styles for art, which is amazing.

WE WOULD GIVE YOU 1 MILLION , WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM PROJECT LOOK LIKE ?

I would create a studio space where I can surround myself with other creators where we could create art together.
WHAT PHOTOSHOOT IS YOUR MOST REMARKABLE/FAVOURITE UNTIL NOW AND WHY ?

It's hard to choose one, I am not one to rate them. My favourite photoshoots are the ones where I find a good connection with the team where there is good energy.

WHERE WOULD YOU WANT TO LIVE ONE DAY AS A PHOTOGRAPHER ? WHERE DO YOU THINK YOUR STYLE FITS BEST ?

I would like to live near the sea, somewhere where I can retreat to, but where I have access to travel. As I find most of my inspiration from my surroundings whether I am in a city with great architecture, or in a desert surrounded by amazing colours. I want to be able to travel more before I decide to settle somewhere.

WHAT CELEBRITY OR HIGH FASHION MODEL WOULD BE A PERFECT MATCH
IN YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY ART ?

I would like to work with Kristen McMenamy as she represents everything I like and the style I am creating in.
PHOTOSHOP OR NO PHOTOSHOP ?

For me, both. I keep my pictures natural if you look at skin texture or details. But I do love working with colours and shapes and sometimes you can't achieve that balance only with a press of a button but you need the helping hand of photoshop.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST STRUGGLE ?

My biggest struggle is within myself. I can't leave habits and things behind, like I've mentioned earlier it is hard for me to step out of my comfort zone and face new challenges. And when you struggle to challenge yourself it is impossible to change.
ADVISE FOR STARTING PHOTOGRAPHERS ?

I would listen to advice with a pinch fo salt. Everyone has their own style and opinion and I'd reccomend you listen to those you look up to. Your talent can be suffocated by imposter syndrome and the fear of what others think. Try to listen to your gut instinct and you will find your own way. Money is important but don't allow money jobs to kill your spirit.
